Dundashill Plot 4a
Following the completion of the landscape framework and public realm works at Dundashill, we are continuing our involvement on the site through the development of plot 4a, in collaboration with Stallan-Brand Architects and Ann Nisbet Studio, on behalf of Bigg Regeneration.
The aim is for the creation of a healthy place which incorporates green and blue infrastructure, increases biodiversity, and benefits the mental and physical health of the residents who live there, along with the creation of a place which is conducive to the growth of a community.
A balance is sought between the provision of private and public space in order to encourage the development of a community within the plot, and provide attractive and use-able spaces which both enable residents to enjoy the benefits of being outside and function well for walking and connecting into the city beyond.
At the heart of the plot, a multi-functional space is formed. This space puts nature, sustainability and place-making at the heart of the proposals. The space serves numerous purposes including sustainable urban drainage, designed to accommodate the collection of the plot’s surface water in a way which also contributes to the character of the development. The drainage process is visible and sustainable and allows for the creation of numerous habitats. Fluctuating water levels enable to creation of habitats formed of plant species which thrive in the variety of conditions created. This in turn creates habitats for wildlife.
