Stirling Care Village
The Stirling Care Village project consolidates and enhances local healthcare services on the existing Stirling Community Hospital site. This £37m development was delivered by hub East Central and Robertson Construction.
It comprises the creation of two specific healthcare buildings; a GP & Minor Injuries Centre, comprising 3 GP practices, Minor Injuries and Out of Hours services, plus a Scottish Ambulance base, and the Bellfield Centre, which will include over 100 elderly care bedrooms for Intermediate Care, Palliative Healthcare, Long Term Residential Care and Assessment.
rankinfraser developed the site wide landscape design for the hospital site to integrate the new buildings into the complex existing context, we worked closely with JM Architects through this process. We designed the new public realm entrance areas to the buildings.
The Bellfield Centre is designed around a series of south facing courtyards which allows the external landscape spaces to be integrated fully into the building. These courtyards comprise a series of therapeutic gardens that are accessed directly from bedrooms and shared common areas. These spaces offer access to the outdoors, areas for rehabilitation and interaction.
Dementia friendly design is a key aspect of the project this was considered throughout the landscape design from the public realm at building entrances to the specific therapeutic spaces for residents with Dementia.
