New Edinburgh Gin Distillery & Visitor Centre
rankinfraser are working on the landscape and public realm design for the new Edinburgh Gin Distillery & Visitor Centre. The new distillery is situated in Edinburgh’s historic Old Town, the site is located at the end of the arches on East Market Street, and is currently a derelict gap site.
The landscape design elements include, the streetscape and building entrance on East Market Street and roof terrace accessed from Jeffrey Street.
The roof terrace garden will showcase the gin botanicals used in the Edinburgh Gin recipes and includes a publicly accessible viewing terrace that allows views across the city, including the site of the original Edinburgh Physic Garden.
The building, designed by Staran Architects, comprises a new build element which sits over four Victorian arches. The visitor experience designed by Contagious includes gin making and tasting rooms within the arches.
The project received planning permission in 2019.
